Most recently, people have become more and more interested in a whole food, plant-based diet. The reasoning behind this interest can vary from protecting the environment to disease prevention and peak performance. Documentary films have begun to pique people’s interest and allow them to be more educated on the subject of plant-based eating.

Here are a few I would recommend watching:

Forks Over Knives

Forks Over Knives presents the ground breaking research of T. Colin Campbell, PhD and the clinical application of that research by Caldwell Esselstyn, MD. The premise: we are sick and getting sicker, and there’s something each of us can do about it. The idea of food as medicine is put to the test. The film follows everyday Americans with chronic conditions as they seek to reduce their dependence on medications and learn to use a whole-food, plant-based diet to regain control over their health and their lives.

You can watch on Amazon Prime.

What the Health

This documentary is the follow up films from the creators of Cowspiracy. The film shows the corruption in the government and big business that is costing us trillions of healthcare dollars, and keeping us sick.

What the Health is an investigative documentary that is an eye-opener for everyone concerned about our nations health and how big businesses influences it.

You can watch this on Netflix.

Game Changer

The Game Changers tells the story of James Wilks — elite Special Forces trainer and The Ultimate Fighter winner — as he travels the world on a quest to uncover the optimal diet for human performance.

Showcasing elite athletes, special ops soldiers, visionary scientists, cultural icons, and everyday heroes, what James discovers permanently changes his understanding of food and his definition of true strength. After watching this, you’re going to want to get off the couch, workout and maybe even consider a plant-based diet!

You can watch this on Netflix.

Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it.

Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged.

You can watch this on Netflix.

These are just a couple for you to get started. There are plenty of others out there as well that will allow you to continue to educate yourself!
